marketing and communications intern

The Center for Living Environments & Regeneration (CLEAR) seeks a self-driven, amazing intern to serve as the Marketing & Communications Intern. This position will support all facets of the LENSES program and manage CLEAR’s social media. This internship is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience working for a non-profit in the field of sustainability. The position is based in Fort Collins, CO or Asheville, NC.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications Assistance (40%)

  • Coordinate, design, and publish email blasts and newsletters
  • Develop content for CLEAR’s social media and manage regular postings and social engagement
  • Edit public program descriptions for marketability, assist with event promotion
  • Update CLEAR website, accurately and regularly
  • Track and report statistics on website, social media, and email newsletter for programs team
  • Copy edit program materials as needed, and facilitate in-house editing process and signoffs
  • Edit public program descriptions for marketability, assist with event promotion
  • Design simple program graphics, flyers, postcards for web and print (using CLEAR brand styles)
  • Create press kits and packets as needed
  • Assist with the creation and distribution of press releases

Organization Administration (25%)

  • Weekly check-in meetings with supervisor
  • Project planning and task management
  • KPI reporting
  • Board of Directors support – annual retreat planning, report compilation, task force support

 LENSES Stories Development (25%)

  • Compile case study information from current and past Facilitator program participants
  • Write a minimum of 3 stories
  • Publish final stories on website

 Program Support – Launch, delivery, and wrap-up (10%)

  • Assemble LENSES Framework models
  • Send course materials to participants
  • Develop resources for each new cohort, including bios, study groups, and contact information
  • Manage cohort Dropbox folder
  • Program evaluations
  • Story questionnaire

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Recent graduates or university junior, senior, or master’s student pursuing a degree Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) skills required
  • Experience with Wordpress, Constant Contact, Mailchimp, or other email service, and social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Vimeo
  • Graphic Design/Adobe Creative Suite experience required
  • Strong organizational skills; must be able to manage numerous projects simultaneously and to work independently
  • Self-driven with the ability to problem solve with limited supervision
  • Ability to brainstorm and think creatively about conceptual ideas
  • Ability to predominately work independently with regular input from team members
  • Professional demeanor and comfortable talking to a diversity of people, including Board members, business leaders, sustainability professionals, university students, and community members
  • Minimum one year office experience preferred
  • Strong computer skills
  • Photo editing and video editing skills preferred
  • HTML/web design skills preferred
  • Interest in sustainability, regenerative development, and CLEAR’s mission preferred

START DATE

The position starts immediately and will remain open until filled.

HOURS

8-10 hours per week from December 2017-May 2017, with potential flexibility in end date.

COMPENSATION

Starting pay is $12/hour, and independent study credit may be available.
